Confidentiality

When something is given to you in confidence, it means that you are entrusted with a secret or private matter. The information is given to you and should only be told to certain people. Information about residents at the Algonquin Nursing Home is confidential. The staff is bound by certain confidentiality rules. They can only talk about the residents to their families and / or appropriate medical personnel.

The staff at Algonquin are familiar with all the residents’ habits, preferences and medical needs. When asked about a certain person, the staff cannot divulge information about them. This can be difficult for the staff, but they are asked not to break confidence. Please ask the resident's Team Leader, who is an RN or Registered Practical Nurse.

Staff act on behalf of the residents. The residents’ health and well-being is respected and looked after. They have the right to talk to the staff in confidence. Knowing that information is kept in trust makes the resident and their family more comfortable. Which in turn helps Algonquin become a “Place Called Home”.
