Algonquin Nursing Home was opened in 1976 by the late Dr. S. F. Monestime and his wife, Mrs. Zena Monestime, to provide long-term care for the people of Mattawa, East Nipissing and Ontario. In 1996, a 1.3 million dollar expansion helped enhance our home for the comfort of the residents.

Our modern, home-like, one story home, is situated in the friendly town of Mattawa. We are licensed under the Ministry of Health, and accredited by the Accreditation Canada. We are bilingual and designated under the French Language Services Act. Our home has an inviting lounge, a beautiful dining room, a large activity room, and an intimate family room. For the well being of the residents, Algonquin is indeed a "Place called Home".
